20 Minutes of Stillness

Greenwood is a film about an Oak tree in the woods of Upstate New York turned into a traditional post and rung stool.

Our friend Adam Newport-Berra made this beautiful short film Greenwood near our cabin in Sullivan County, NY. We premiered it 10 years ago, but thought today would be a good day for a rewatch.

Adam once told an interviewer:

I think the hardest thing for our generation to do is find some sort of stillness … This is an exploration in trying to do that. I'm so guilty of it; it's impossible for me to sit still and pay attention. I was really nervous about this movie because it's 20 minutes long. I got to a point where I couldn't cut it down anymore and if people wanted to watch it they would. It's not for everybody, but if you're able to sit with it for a while then it pays off.

It’s sublime.
