Before & After: Renovators Meet the Original Builder

Melissa and Adam in Weber Canyon, Utah wrote us:

We want to share our cabin built in 1978 by a man named Bob Rudy. He built it with a kit over several years with friends and family. We met him serendipitously, as we were moving back into our cabin after renovating it all summer, when he stopped by to see if it was still standing.

The cabin is the culmination of a lifelong dream. It's not a vacation rental; it is for us. A place for our friends and family to gather, be together, relax, and enjoy nature at the gateway to the Uintas. It is a dream come true.

Our renovation involved taking out ceilings and creating a loft to expose the beautiful arched beams and tongue and groove ceiling, new paint inside and out, adding all new windows including an entire back wall of glass that faces the canyon, reconfiguring the kitchen, new flooring, and some fun, simple bathroom updates. We still have lots we want to do but for now, we are really loving our special place.
